Man Killed in Rollover Crash on 91 Freeway in Cerritos

Editor's Note: Updated at 3 a.m. with coroner's office correcting age of victim to 19. CHP originally reported the victim being 25.

A 19-year-old man was killed this afternoon in a rollover accident on the Artesia (91) Freeway in Cerritos, leaving two lanes of the freeway shut down for nearly four hours, authorites said.

The solo-vehicle crash occurred on the westbound 91 Freeway at Shoemaker Avenue about 3:50 p.m. on Jan. 5, said CHP Officer Christian Cracraft. 

The man's vehicle overturned and his body was ejected onto the freeway, leaving the No. 4 and 5 lanes blocked until about 7:30 p.m., the officer said. 

The victim was declared dead at the scene, he said. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin. 

The circumstances of the accident remained under investigation.
