UPDATE: Man Shot to Death in Norwalk Thursday

A man was shot and killed in nearby Norwalk this morning, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. Thursday in the 11500 block of Angell Street, said Lt. Stacy Morgan of the Norwalk Sheriff's Station.

Detectives have learned that the sound of several gunshots were heard at the location, and when deputies arrived, they discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso. 

The victim was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, Morgan said. He was later pronounced dead, according to Deputy Peter Gomez of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives were dispatched to the scene to investigate the slaying, Gomez said.
