Cerritos Woman Killed in Deadly Ice Cream Parlor Accident
Meanwhile, police investigate if driver's age played a role.
The possibility that an elderly driver hit the wrong foot pedal, accidentally killing a woman standing outside a popular ice cream parlor in Buena Park, continued today, as the victim's name was released.
Marisa Malin, 73, of Cerritos, was pronounced dead at a hospital 33 minutes after she was among seven pedestrians smashed by an SUV driven by a man in his 70s.
A woman and a teenage girl were also hospitalized with critical injuries, said Cpl. Andy Luong of the Buena Park Police Department.

The pedestrians had been standing outside Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour Restaurant, in the 8600 block of Beach Boulevard near Knott's Berry Farm, around 6 p.m. Friday, said Capt. Ben Gonzales of the Orange County Fire Authority.
Paramedics rushed Malin to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she was pronounced dead at 6:33 p.m. Friday -- nine days after her 73rd birthday.

Three other people, including a man and his son, were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Luong said.
One person was evaluated and treated at the scene but declined to be taken to a hospital, Gonzales said.
The driver of the SUV -- who is in his 70s, according to ABC7 -- and his woman passenger were not injured, Luong said. Witnessess said he appeared dazed after the crash.
Police today have not disclosed if he was cited, arrested or hospitalized.
