Sheriff Investigating Sunday Shooting at Norwalk Bus Stop

The victim was standing at a bus stop when a white van drove up and a gunman walked up to the victim and shot him multiple times.

A 41-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday while he waited for a bus in Norwalk, the sheriff's department reported Monday.

The shooting took place about 6:20 p.m. Sunday, in the 13200 block of Rosecrans Avenue, just west of Carmenita Road, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. John Corina.

The victim was standing at a bus stop when a white van drove past the bus stop and parked, Corina said. The gunman exited the van, walked up to the victim, shot him multiple times and then got back into the van and sped, off driving south on Claressa Street, according to Corina.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A motive for the attack was not known.

Anyone with information on this shooting was asked to call the sheriff's homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.
