The chase began on Artesia (91) Freeway in Long Beach and ended in Paramount after the vehicle stopped and SWAT team members later fired shots at it.

A man who allegedly brandished a weapon at a sheriff's deputy and then led law enforcement on a chase through Long Beach and into Paramount was taken to a hospital Friday morning after being shot by SWAT team members at the end of a four-hour standoff, authorities said.

It was unclear exactly where the alleged weapon offense occurred, but the chase began at about 10:55 p.m. Thursday, Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Don Walker said.

Several news stations reported late Thursday that the chase began in Cerritos.
