Suspected DUI Driver Arrested for Fatal Crash in Bellflower

The accident occurred about 7:15 p.m. Friday on Alondra Boulevard near McNab Avenue, leaving a 49-year-old woman dead.

A 39-year-old man in Bellflower was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony drunken driving when , a Los Angeles County sheriff's lieutenant said today.

John Rice, the suspected drunken driver, suffered moderate injuries during the crash, Lt. Minh Dinh of the sheriff's Lakewood station said.

The 49-year-old woman driving the Pathfinder was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene. Her daughter, a 20-year-old woman sitting in the backseat, suffered moderate injuries. Her 18-month-old granddaughter escaped injury.

Dinh said there was a female passenger in the Corvette. Her condition was not immediately known.
