A gunman wearing a motorcycle helmet held up the Taco Bell/KFC fastfood restaurant in Cerritos Tuesday night -- marking the second armed robbery in the city in a less than two-hour period.
The robbery at the co-branded eatery located at 13313 Artesia Blvd. was reported at 9:07 p.m. Nov. 20, according to a Cerritos Sheriff's Station sergeant at the scene.
The suspect, who was described as a Hispanic man about 5'11 tall wearing dark clothing, robbed the business at gunpoint, the sergeant said. There was one customer inside the business, which closes at 10 p.m.
After taking the cash, the robber exited the restaurant and fled westbound on Artesia Boulevard, the sergeant said. The amount of cash taken was not immediately reported.
Sheriff's detectives were reviewing surveillance footage of the holdup and working on some suspect leads, according to the sergeant.
Anyone with information on the robbery was asked to call the Cerritos Sheriff's Station at (562) 860-0044.
Cerritos Robberies Occur Less Than Two Hours Apart
Some two hours earlier a man robbed the Walmart at the Cerritos Towne Center at gunpoint and took roughly $1,500 in cash. (Click here for additional details on that robbery.)
It was unclear whether the two crimes were related.
