Telling Clue Leads to Questioning of Suspect in Truck Theft

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies they are questioning a man whose driver's license was found near the spot where a truck with cargo was stolen.

Sheriff's deputies today were questioning a man who allegedly dropped his driver's license as he stole a truck full of children's clothing.

Deputies investigating a theft from a cargo depot in the 10800 block of Artesia Boulevard about 5:30 a.m. found the man's license, went to the address on the license and found the stolen truck there, said Capt. Keith Swensson of the sheriff's Cerritos station.

Deputies with local burglary suppression team watched as the suspect got into the big rig and drove off before they moved in to make an arrest, he said.

Inside the truck was merchandise, mostly children's clothing, valued at $27,000, he said.

The name of the suspect was unavailable pending booking.
