Two men were in custody today on suspicion of committing five armed robberies of local businesses Tuesday night, including a gas station in Cerritos.
The crime spree, which began about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, included three hold-ups in Buena Park, one in Fullerton and one in Cerritos, said Buena Park police Cpl. Andy Luong.
Luong said detectives circulated a description of a vehicle involved in one of the Buena Park crimes, and police in Fullerton stopped the vehicle, detained two men overnight and recovered stolen property, along with weapons.
The names of the two captured were expected to be released later today, Luong told Patch.
The targeted businesses included two gas stations and a Pizza Hut in Buena Park, according to Buena Park police.
A Chevron gas station in the 13300 block of South Street in Cerritos was robbed about 11 p.m. Tuesday, said Lt. Allen Castellano of the Cerritos Sheriff's Station.
Cerritos detectives were continuing to work with Buena Park police to confirm that the Cerritos suspects were the same men linked to the other four robberies, Castellano added.
