'Plain Jane Bandit' Strikes Again, Downey Bank Latest Target

The elusive female bank robber hit up a Bank of America in nearby Downey Monday, resulting in a total of seven bank robberies linked to the suspect in a little over two weeks.

The "Plain Jane" bandit, who has held up seven banks in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties in the past couple of weeks, struck again Monday, this time at a bank in nearby Downey.

"Plain Jane," so named because of descriptions provided by witnesses, either slips a teller a note or verbally commands the employee to give her money, claiming she has an accomplice waiting for her.

The latest heist occurred about 2:15 p.m. Monday, July 30 at a Bank of America branch at 10010 Paramount Blvd. in Downey, said Laura Eimiller of the FBI.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 35 to 45 years old, between 5'3" and 5'5" and weighing 160 to 180 pounds. Authorities have released several surveillance images of the suspect in hopes of identifying the woman. (Click here to view several other images of the suspect.)

Anyone with information about the suspect was urged to contact the FBI or the nearest police agency.
