Artesia Announces Interim City Manager

Former City Manager Maria Dadian retired after 12 years of service.

Former Santa Fe Springs city manager Donald Powell will take the helm as Artesia's interim city manager, according to Artesia public information officer Andrew Perry.

The appointment comes after the retirement of long time Artesia city manager Maria Dadian who served as the city manger for twelve years, the city said.

According to PublicCEO, Powell worked with the City of Santa Fe Springs for 33 years from 1966 until his retirement in 1999. After retirement, he also served as an interim city manger in Villa Park.

Dadian, who has worked with the City of Artesia since 1994, said her retirement came after much contemplation and reflection. Her retirement was announced in August.

"After thinking about it for a while, it suddenly hit me that there is never a right time to retire, there’s always something that needs be done," Dadian said in a release. "But the decision is something I’ve been thinking about for some time, so it seemed now was about as good a time to make this decision as any other."
