Pulido Invites Old Friends and Classmates in Support of Campaign

Cerritos City Council candidate, Mark Pulido, gathered his old classmates and local friends to raise money and gain support for the upcoming election.

On March 4, Cerritos City Council candidate, , held an all-Cerritos high school reunion in support of his campaign at in the Cerritos Towne Center. The current school board member also invited alumni from local high schools to join him before the March 8 Municipal Election.

Pulido offered complimentary appetizers to the friends and family he grew up with as a child living in Cerritos as well as at the University of California, Los Angeles. The gathering served as a way for old classmates to catch up as well raise money and pledge volunteer time for Pulido’s campaign.

“I feel that Mark Pulido is going to be the best city council member the city of Cerritos can have, “ said fellow UCLA classmate Levin Sy. “I think his leadership in the ABC School Board is the type of leadership that we need on the city council.”

Renowned Filipino-American hip-hop disc jockey (and friend of Pulido) Isaiah Dacio – also known as DJ Icy Ice - spoke on behalf of other supporters.

“I think it’s our turn to give our support back to Mark,” Dacio said.

Pulido’s brother, Randy, said Pulido has a very good chance this time around – it being his third attempt at winning a seat on the council.

“We finally were able to get the absentee voters to vote for him, and the ones that should’ve voted for him will hopefully be voting this time around," Randy said.

Pulido said he likens the pride of his hometown to that of his parents’ pride in their hometown in the Philippines.

“This is my province,” Pulido said before his supporters. “This is my barrio. I’m not leaving here. When I get there (city council), it’s not just going to be about me; it’s going to be about all of us.”
