Volunteers are being sought to help clean up the city of Artesia this Saturday as the community group "Artesia in Action" hosts its annual cleanup and trash pickup in North Artesia.
The city is endorsing this project and is working with the city's waste hauler, Consolidated Disposal Services, to assist in the effort with four large dumpsters.
The cleanup project will be focused on the disposal of large items, like refrigerators or furniture. Artesia in Action plans to start the effort in front of A.J. Padelford Park, located at 11870 169th Street, from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 19.
In the past few years, the group has helped clear out a warehouse once filled with junk and sometimes used as a gang hideout, as well as A.J. Padelford Park.
Artesia in Action aims to develop community pride through volunteer service projects that help rebuild and clean up city neighborhoods.
For more information or to volunteer with this group, call (562) 924-4466 ext. 212 and ask for Brenna. Volunteers are asked to fill out the forms located here prior to arriving at the Jan. 19 event.
