ABC School Board Member Sophia Tse Campaigns for Re-Election

Coming up on the end of her term, current school board member, Sophia Tse, starts her campaign for another four years of serving her community.

Last weekend, within the gated community of Cerritos’ Shadow Park, ABC School Board member, Sophia Tse, kicked off her campaign for re-election to the school board. With a ready team of supporters, Tse explained her emphasis on education.

“How can we help the kids without letting them wander the streets?” Tse asked her colleagues and friends.

Tse openly admits to once being the young, C-average student with little interest in studying, but eventually realized there was something she could do to turn her life around. This is evident in her many accomplishments, including becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner, a part-time university instructor, and a Southeast ROP board member.

“When I came to the United States, I knew there’s a change for me.” Tse said.

Fellow boardmember, James Kang, said Tse has a very strong stance in her campaign, and she has been working very hard for the district. He praised her work as the Board Liaison to the Career Technical Education Ad Hoc Board Advisory Committee.

“We have medical assistant programs,” Kang said. “We have dental assistant programs, auto maintenance programs and so on. She’s (Tse) in charge of that. She’s doing very good.”

A testament to Tse’s commitment to education is her son, Gary Tse, who is in his fourth year at Georgetown University studying medicine as a graduate student. According to Gary, Sophia is very excited to serving the community again.

“I think she (Sophia) has learned a lot these past couple of years that she has served on the school board, and I think she’ll continue to improve with experience,” Gary said.

According to Tse, she will be very busy with her campaign, and her team will do the very best it can.

“I am putting in 120% effort to win this race,” she said. “I’m ready to go!”
