Cerritos College Board of Trustees Looks to Fill Vacancy

Candidates to be interviewed and considered at June 8 meeting.

The Cerritos Community College District Board of Trustees recently announced that it will accept letters of interest with statements of qualifications for appointment to fill a board vacancy created by the passing of trustee Bob Epple on April 13.

Those interested in appointment to the vacant trustee position should submit a letter of interest including a statement of qualifications directly to Dr. Linda Lacy, president/superintendent, Cerritos Community College District, 11110 Alondra Boulevard, Norwalk, CA 90650-6298, no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. The board will be screening candidate qualifications and notify finalists on Monday, June 6. The board plans to interview the finalists and consider an appointment during its regular meeting on Wednesday, June 8. The position shall be filled until the next regularly scheduled election, according to the college.

According to the California State Education Code, board trustees for the college must be a registered voter living within the Cerritos Community College District, which includes the communities of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, La Mirada, Norwalk, and portions of Bell Gardens, Lakewood, Long Beach, Santa Fe Springs and South Gate. The district includes the following zip codes: 90701, 90702, 90703, 90706, 90707, 90239, 90240, 90241, 90242, 90711, 90712, 90713, 90714, 90715, 90716, 90805, 90637, 90638, 90639, 90650, 90651, 90652 and 90659.
