Cerritos College Seeks Local and Minority Businesses for Construction Projects

A new "bond construction outreach program" helps the college identify local and minority businesses who can help complete taxpayer-funded projects.

The following is a press release from Cerritos College: 

Cerritos College is pleased to announce the launch of its new Bond Construction Outreach Program, which promotes increased participation of local and minority businesses in the college's Measure CC and Measure G construction projects.

"With the Bond Construction Outreach Program, we intend to create growth opportunities for local and minority businesses in the areas of construction, architecture, engineering and professional services," said Cerritos College President/Superintendent Dr. Linda Lacy.

"Local" businesses in the program are defined as businesses that have an office located within one of the 14 communities served by Cerritos College: Artesia, Bellflower, Bell Gardens, Cerritos, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, La Mirada, Lakewood, Long Beach, Norwalk, Paramount, Santa Fe Springs, South Gate, and Signal Hill.

"Minority" businesses are businesses certified as or eligible for certification as one or more of the following categories: Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE).

Cerritos College, with the assistance of its construction program manager Tilden-Coil Constructors, Inc., will be hosting three contractor outreach seminars. The seminars will be held in the Cerritos College Teleconference Center (LC 155).
