Cerritos College To Honor Its Best in Newly Established Hall of Fame

Cerritos College officials have announced plans to honor the very best of the best Falcons through the newly established the Cerritos College Hall of Fame.

"The Hall of Fame has been founded to honor, pay tribute to and perpetuate the recognition of those individuals who, either through participation, support, or interest, have made outstanding contributions in the field of intercollegiate athletics and/or have helped to bring recognition, honor, distinction, and excellence to Cerritos College," according to a statement issued by the college.

Candidate nominations are being accepted between now and Nov. 30 for the inaugural class of honorees, who will be inducted into the newly formed Hall of Fame (HOF) during a special ceremony at the on April 12, 2012. 

Candidates will be chosen from the following categories: 

• Athletics (Male Athlete, Female Athlete, Coach/Administrator, Supporter, and Team State Champion) 
• Distinguished Alumnus 
• Distinguished Classified/Confidential 
• Distinguished Faculty

The nomination forms are available for download on the HOF website: http://www.cerritos.edu/hof. Selection criteria and requirements are also viewable on the site. 

The Foundation Executive Board will also be selecting a corporate partner that will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in the spring, according to the college.

Selection Process

According to the school's website, the Cerritos College Hall of Fame Subcommittees shall hold at least one general meeting each year to thoroughly review nominations to be considered for selection into the next induction ceremony. After the Subcomittees come to a consensus on the candidates, the list will be forwarded to the Cerritos College Hall of Fame Steering Committee for final selection of the award. 

The selected candidate must be present at the ceremony unless the candidate is being honored posthumously. If the selected candidate in unavailable, he/she will go back into the pool of nominees and another individual will be selected from the list of candidates.
