America's Birthday Bash Comes to Cerritos, Artesia

The 39th annual Let Freedom Ring Celebration will feature food and game booths, rides and entertainment, and culminate with a Fireworks Spectacular at Cerritos High School.

Looking for something to do on Fourth of July but don’t want to drive far and fight the holiday traffic? Then try some of the fun and activities planned by the cities of Cerritos and Artesia.

In the City of Cerritos, the 39th Annual Let Freedom Ring Celebration will be held at the Cerritos Civic Center, 18125 Bloomfield Avenue, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Food and game booths are sponsored by local community organizations, along with rides and attractions. An all-day ride wristband is $20 and individual tickets are $1 apiece. Wristbands are available only until 7:00.

Entertainment will be provided by the Cerritos College Community Band beginning at 4:00 p.m. Strolling performances will be provided by George Washington and the Statue of Liberty on Stilts, and a Filipino cultural performance by Sining Kumintang will take place at 5:00 p.m.

A formal ceremony and National Bell Ringing will be held at 6:30 p.m., followed by a concert by the 50s rock group Captain Cardiac & the Coronaries at 7:30 p.m. The night concludes with a Fireworks Spectacular at Cerritos High School. Please bring chairs and blankets for seating in designated areas. Personal fireworks are illegal in Cerritos and will be strictly enforced.

In the City of Artesia, the day will begin at Artesia Park with an Over-the-Line Tournament that runs from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for participants age 16 and up. The Spray Pool will be open from 2:00-5:00 p.m., and family games and activities run from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Diamond 7. Prizes will be given away to children who participate. During the afternoon music can be heard throughout the park until 6:00 p.m.

While personal fireworks are legal in Artesia, they are illegal on the park grounds and will be strictly enforced. And there will be no fireworks show.
