When I started my freshman year at Cerritos High School, I was thrilled beyond words. And when I saw how awesome the music program was & all they had accomplished; it made it that more rewarding. I joined marching band this year and I have met so many friends. I have built friendships that will last forever. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get to where we are today and we did it!

It was brought to my attention early in the school year that the . I was in shock and could not believe it. This is a once in a lifetime chance to be invited to perform at the Olympics. I am determined to go and will settle for nothing less. We have to practice day in and day out. This opportunity has taught me so much about myself and my peers. We are not only representing the city of Cerritos, we are representing Cerritos High School, the , and the state of California.

This is truly a dream come true. And I would have never imagined going to another country to perform what I love doing: playing music. The selected students that are taking this journey with me will have a memory that will last a lifetime. This is going to make us excel as a group and as individuals!!

Please support the Wind Symphony as we would love to fulfill this “golden opportunity”.

Sincerely,

Alex Candelaria
