It’s a fundraiser where bakers, both professional and amateur, donate cupcakes for a good cause. Local bakers have been incredibly generous and over 4,000 cupcakes have been promised. That’s a lot of baking for local pastry chefs and a lot of good eating for community members.

“For only $10 you get a cupcake box and 6 tickets,” committee chair Dr. Annalisa Fernando explained.

“Then you get the fun of walking around the room and choosing your favorites. It won’t be easy, because there will be a huge selection of flavors and many of the cupcakes will look more like works of art than the cupcakes grandma baked," she said. "But choosing may be half the fun. In fact, one set of tickets may not be enough. You may need more.”

How Do I Get Tickets?

Tickets are available for purchase:

  • at the door on the day of the event
  • at the (located at 11420 South St. in Cerritos)
  • online at cerritoscupcakecamp@gmail.com; or
  • by calling (562) 716 0867.

What Kind of Cupcakes Will There Be?

Oh sure, there will be the usual chocolate and vanilla and even lemon. But you might want to try the peanut butter and jelly flavored cupcakes. Or the maple sugar or rocky road or margarita-flavored or even ones that taste like green tea. If you can imagine the flavor, it will probably be in the room. And if plain vanilla is your favorite, you’ll be able to taste test till you find the vanilla you like best.

The Cupcake Competition

“And it isn’t just a place to find extraordinary cupcakes,” added Soroptimist President Christina Alosi.

“We are having cupcake contests in three categories: Best of Show, Most Unique Ingredient and Most Cerritos. Wait till you see the entries!," she said. "There’s even a contest for children 12 and under. And there will be lots of family friendly activities like face painting and raffles and door prizes.”

It's A Fundraiser For A Good Cause

Money raised from the event goes back to the community. Local charities that will benefit are Su Casa~Ending Domestic Violence, Community Family Guidance Center which offers counseling to abused and troubled children, and Ronald McDonald House which supports the families of seriously ill children.

“It’s one time you can indulge your sweet tooth and feel good about it,” Dr. Fernando suggested. “And if you’re planning to order cupcakes for an upcoming event, you can compare the products from many different bakers in one place - and have a good time while you’re doing it!”

Carmenita Middle School is located at the corner of Carmenita Road and 166th Street at 13435 166th St. in Cerritos. There is ample free parking available.
