Cheyenne was a very sweet horse. It was an easy decision to put her in this service as a therapeuticRead More aid. She was not only sweet but a quick learner. Her sire, Cheyenne Knox, was a world champ quarter horse with over 100 lifetime points in various Western Pleasure Classes. It was sad to hear of her passing but we were very happy with the organization that had her and grateful that we had the chance to work with her. Jeff - dinor

The Ride Your Horse program is one of the greatest programs to exist in the Cerritos Area. TheRead More things that Darlene and her staff do to help people that have challenges is incredible. I was there at the beginning of the program and only hope more people care about it. A special thanks to Bob and Mary Buell for all that they do to promote and support the program, without their love we would not have this program in Cerritos. Cheyenne was a beautiful horse inside and out and will be missed, but Darlene and all will keep this going. RIde Your Horse in Cerritos should be seen by all

Trust me, if this had happened at Belmont Pier, or my daughter's fishing pole, somebody would haveRead More gone to jail. Believe that!!!
carter kendrick August 17, 2012 at 08:50 pm
Simple answer...they hold the fishing derby once a year. Ban all surfing within a fifty feetRead More distance within the pier that day. Cite anyone that violates the issue and that will solve the problem.

Hello, I live on Grand View Blvd. in Mar Vista Los Angeles. Tonight I scarred off 2 COYOTES from myRead More driveway at 2:30am (on Jan 5 2013). I had let my cat out earlier and went to call him in when I saw them out front. Thankfully I was able to retrieve him and my other cats who were also out. Surprisingly my dog did not bark during the whole occurrence. I have also recently, (yesterday) seen a large, pink tipped HAWK circling my area and at the top of Grand View Hill @ Palms around 12 noon-1 pm, and have been told by a neighbor that there is an OWL hanging around as well!. THESE ARE ALL PREDATORS AND ARE LOOKING FOR OUR PETS as FOOD/PREY All of this is REALLY BAD news for owners of small pets that spend time outdoors unattended. PLEASE NOTIFY RESIDENTS!!

I had seen three coyotes in the North Long Beach area in the early morning on Aug 9th. I had savedRead More a cat that one of the coyotes was trying to get. I just followed in my car and kept honking the horn over & over again until I finally had scared it away. I did inform Animal Control on the same day. Unfortuantely I was not able to save a cat that they had already killed and were eating prior. I hate to see ANY animal in danger, nevertheless when it is someone's pet!

Your very lucky that this group of coyotes didn't attack you. We will be notifying governmentRead More officials regarding this incident. This is a community neighborhood park where kids are often seen.

No, the dogs were not euthanized, they were placed in loving caring homes.

"You assist an evil system most effectively by obeying its orders and decrees. An evil systemRead More never deserves such allegiance. Allegiance to it means partaking of the evil. A good person will resist an evil system with his or her whole soul." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Again you demonstrate this apparent need to offer insult to those who disagree with you. This isRead More very unfortunate because little to nothing of a constructive or productive nature can be accomplished between two people when one of them makes a habit of impugning and offering insults to the other. Have a good day, Natasha. May you find continued comfort in your personal worldview.

Ya Nancy, it's something they can take pride in. And we too can take pride in it also since thisRead More ship was a product of our massive war production during WWII, which was a main reason we won that war, and is what built our large and robust middle class afterwards by switching just some of it to civilian production.

In February,1952 I came aboard The USS Iowa in Long Beach fresh out of boot camp. Long Beach wasRead More our home port and had been since her recommissioning in August 1951. Long Beach remained our home port until we joined the Korean War in April 1952. In a way Long beach was an unusual home port. We were anchored out about three miles from land and there were no other ships around. Long Beach was a small town in those days and the people of Long Beach treated us well. The Pike was in its heyday and that is where we spent our liberties. When we returned from Korea in November 1952 our ships band struck up the tune "California Here I come" and it was a welcome song for the entire crew. I will ever be grateful to Long Beach for her generosity to the crew of the Iowa. Dale McKinnon, Timber, Oregon

It was an anonymous commenter with an anonymous source under an article in greaterlongbeach.com. SoRead More thanks, it is most probably an urban myth. But my imagination ran with it after seeing the movie Battleship and seeing many similarities.

Lol, tt... Some say Queen Mary is drug slang for marijuana. ("Queen Mary, she's myRead More friend. Yes I believe I'll go see her again.") Why not house all city approved medical MJ dispensaries on one deck, another deck for temporarily lodging recreational users with minor afflictions and a doctor's note, a long-term care deck accommodating those with more serious pain, a hospice deck on which those sailing into their final sunset might find solace and compassion, and below all else could be housed James Cameron's massive ego, close proximity to which would automatically generate a metaphysical thrill ride called The Abyss.

Correct me if Im wrong, but isn't there water and fish in this lagoon? These animals live inRead More swimming pools, so I think this one will be fine. If not, well, other animals will eat. That's how it works in nature.

Coach Joe Pacheco was my basketball coach at Saint Joseph High School for four years. By havingRead More Pacheco as my coach I have seen major improvements in my skills as a basketball player. He taught me to work hard ,play with heart and to be a team player. Coach Pacheco had always pushed me to be the best I can be, whether it was on the court,in the classroom or even in everyday life. I have never had a coach with so much passion for the game and confidence in all of his players. I am so thankful to have had the pleasure of being one of his players because he helped mold me into the person I am today. Imee

Coach Joe Pacheco was my first high school basketball coach. He always coached with such enthusiasmRead More and his passion for not only the game, but for his team would always shine. Whether it be during practices or games. Coach Pacheco has made such a huge and special impact in my life. During my junior year of high school, I was diagnosed with cancer. He went above and beyond his duties of a high school basketball coach by helping with fundraisers, checking up on me and my family throughout my treatment and visits to the hospitals. He even generously donated his own blood and platelets that were essential to my recovery. Coach Joe Pacheco is more than simply a coach. He is an admirable person with such a big heart. I will never forget all the amazing deeds he has done for me, and I am forever grateful for having the honor to have met such a kind and compassionate person. Kristen Tuason
