More Than 1,300 Watch Live Online Telecast of Chinese Town Hall Meeting

The Cerritos Sheriff's Station hosted the community safety meeting on Aug. 10 at the First Evangelical Church in Cerritos.

More than 1,300 viewers tuned into last Saturday's live online telecast of the first Cerritos Sheriff's Station Town Hall meeting in Chinese, according to the sheriff's station.

"1,342 viewers watched last Saturday's live telecast of the 1st Cerritos Sheriffs Town Hall Meeting in Chinese," Capt. Keith Swennson said.

The meeting, which was held at the First Evangelical Church on Aug. 10, was conducted in Chinese and featured Chinese speaking deputies, reserve deputies, explorers, and volunteers -- an effort to help convey important community safety tips and advice to local Chinese residents. 

The Cerritos Sheriff's Station is staffed with deputies/reserve deputies who speak several other languages besides English, including Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog, Taiwanese, and Thai.
